Kobe Kyle Steinmetz

One Thanksgiving Kobe and I were on our way home to Tallahassee from Delray Beach where we had Thanksgiving with his “GiGi”. On the way our conversation led to death and heaven. He looked at me and said, “Daddy, you know I am going to die right?”

I looked at him and said “Yes, we all die, but I am going to die first because I am your daddy and that’s the way it works.” He looked me in the eyes and replied, “I know, I know, but I am an angel”. I was upset at the time to hear that and told him not to talk like that. Looking back however, he knew exactly what he was saying.

We always think of things in such a physical sense, but spiritually children are much more open to God’s wisdom because they are pure and innocent to the ways of this world. God has a special place in His heart for children.

Passage Matthew 19:14:

¹⁴Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Passage Matthew 18:3-5:

³And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. ⁴Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. ⁵"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.”

I know my son is in a better place than my mind can ever begin to comprehend, and I must trust God’s Word.

None the less I miss you Kobe with all of my heart and soul and I look forward to the day that we will meet again in the Kingdom of Heaven and I can hold you in my arms once again and tell you how much I love you. You changed my life for the better and I will always be grateful to you. You are my first and only son. Your sisters will know you through our everlasting love for you and you will never be forgotten.

I hope and pray that this site can help someone in need that has faced this type of tragedy or another child that is in need. If this site is up forever and it helps but one person, it will be well worth it.
